And unpicking stitches is enough to make me abandon a project all together.
With that, I have to say: Really, Burda? REALLY?
Botched Burda 141 Top For Girls |
Alright, the blame should really be on me.
And the thought of unpicking an entire project is not enough to elicit a little sympathy this rainy Wednesday, take a look at my kitchen. I have less counter space now than I did at age 20 when I lived in a camper trailer:
Please note: no dishwasher |
Pity party over. Check out the LBD I've been sewing from McCall's 6319. No mistakes, no backtracking (too bad I had to use a flash for the pics though; it's dark in NYC today!)
I used the black ponte knit that Gingermakes so generously gave to me. I love it. Sometimes something easy to sew is just as easy to wear. I'm still deciding on a hemline. I keep trying it on with different shoes, which each demand a different length. With heels: longer. Flats: short, obviously, am I right?
love the zip! |
How about you people? Screwed anything up lately? Feeling down in the dumps thanks to mid-winter weather and incomplete pattern instructions?
Sing the blues, sister! I had an epic screw up yesterday: http://fivemuses.blogspot.com/2013/01/one-errant-snip.html
ReplyDeleteBut your LBD is fantastic!
Ack! Saw your post. I've also cut into something in error. Also: damaged something beyond repair when it got caught up under serger knife!
DeleteLove the shoulder zip on your dress. I hate unpicking, especially on stretchy fabric. I've two winter ufo's left languishing right now. I thought making a cape for winter would be a great idea, but it'll be the next winter by the time I finish it!
ReplyDeleteYes! Stretchy fabric is the worst. This thing is going to be holly as heck when Im done unpicking. Ugh!
Deletebummer about the kid burda top! i generally don't bother looking at their directions, they never make much sense. the LBD is looking great though!
ReplyDeleteyeah, I should trust myself more when using one of their patterns. Thanks!
DeleteLet's take a moment for your kitchen. Egads! That is tiny!!!!
ReplyDeleteNow to your LBD- that is rad! Loving the zips- super cool :D
Yes, thank you! On the bright side: I can stir a pot and wash dishes at the same time...
DeleteI think I must be completely crazy but I actually love to unpick. I do it while watching TV and I just find the whole thing really relaxing or something. ha so SEND ME ALL YOUR UNFINISHED PROJECTS. ;)
ReplyDeleteBut can we please talk about that freaking PERFECT insertion of your zipper on that dress? Seriously very well done, what a fun little detail too!
yes, you ARE crazy (and can I please have your address?).
DeleteAhh, I love the dress! The zipper detail is so hip! Love it! But blech, I hear you re: unpicking. It's especially tedious to unpick knits. Yuck!
ReplyDeleteBut dude, your house is so clean! I'm impressed! Don't hate me, but our new space has a dishwasher and more counter space... totally worth downsizing our bedroom. And bathroom. And living room. Oh, and going down to half-sized closets. Still, totally worth it.
Well obviously I'd only take pics in the five seconds that immediately follow cleaning! Oh scratch that. I have a sink full of dirty dishes. Also, you put an apple on that counter and boom: no more counter space. Our last apartment had a huge kitchen, and a dishwasher. This one has a master bedroom so big we could subdivide and rent it out. (Maybe I could run a couple hoses in here stick a dishwasher near the laundry bin?)
DeleteOh lordy, I've been sewing my first ever men's shirt (men's anything if I'm honest) for my hubby's birthday Sunday. Can I just say, not gonna be done? Unpick - what about unpicking button holes? Ick! And as for your kitchen - but you get to live in New York! My dream of dreams is to visit one day, but the other side of the world is so far away... :)
ReplyDeleteHi, new follower:) I love your LBD, the zip detail is so cute :)

I am working on an educational website and also the owners wanted story section where I put articles they indicate on the website.
ReplyDeleteThe articles originate from news/magazine and other online article/new sources.
Plus listing? Article Obtained from: (URL)? and a link
to the original article. I believed that has been enough, but We
have heard from a friend that it isn? t.. This website is NOT yet publicly online, therefore i can change items to be legal before it becomes a legal problem.
.. What do I need as a citation to ensure I don? t infringe on anyone?
s copyright?. Do I need to do whatever else besides listing a citation &
link to be legal?.. Thanks a lot all for helping!. SRGR.

I think everything said made a bunch of sense. However,
ReplyDeletethink on this, what if you added a little information? I ain't suggesting your content is not solid., however what if you added something that grabbed folk's attention?
I mean "Woe is Me: UFO Coming In For A Landing" is a little
boring. You might look at Yahoo's front page and see how they write article headlines to grab people to open the links. You might add a related video or a related pic or two to grab people excited about what you've got
to say. Just my opinion, it might make your blog a little livelier.
