If anybody is keeping track, today my kid wants to be a superhero for Halloween (upon seeing her best bud Camila dressed in her super cool costume, which I think her mom made by following Martha's instructions here; it's super cute and easy so if you're still looking for a costume idea. I may be making one of these myself on Oct. 31).
Anyway, so Lucy is not going to wear the owl costume I made, apparently. It breaks my heart, but winning $1,000 will help it heal — so PLEASE vote for me in Burdastyle.com's costume contest. I am doing awesome in the polls, but a dog dressed as a walrus and a Wookie are creeping up on me. Help me win by voting here: http://www.burdastyle.com/gallery/275?page=181. You can sign in using your Facebook ID, and you can vote for me even if you have already voted for someone else. Please, please, please vote. I could really use the money after the horrible fall we've been having.
Yesterday, Lucy threw a tantrum because she decided she wanted to be a cookie for Halloween. This was after I made this fleece and felt cookie costume (along with the bottle of milk at left there) for her friend Phoebe. I made it roughly following the instructions here, posted on Flickr by Rachel of Average Jane Crafter.

I hesitate to make this comment, because one day Talia will find it and use it against me, but I am so glad to turn over photos of her in a nipple hat and will pass it along as soon as the girls are all dressed up. She should just be grateful that I let a pro make it for her rather than her own mother.
